This weekend Return to Freedom Founder Neda DeMayo met with Chief Bald Eagle to ask for his support in condemning horse slaughter on tribal lands. The horse and the Native American people are connected throughout history, through trials and tribulation, and have a bond of understanding and respect that cannot and should not be broken. Thank you Chief Bald Eagle for your open message to all tribes and all people, condemning horse slaughter. You can add your voice to this effort by contacting your Federal legislators and asking them to support the SAFE Act (S541 and HR 1094). The SAFE Act was introduced by U.S. Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Reps. Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.) and Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), to ban horse slaughter in the U.S., as well as banning the export of horses to other countries to be slaughtered for human consumption.
