On June 5, 2013, the National Academy of Sciences released a report after completing their review of the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program. The report is a wake up call for the Bureau of Land Management, concluding that to continue “business as usual” practices would be  “expensive and unproductive for BLM and the public it serves.”

The report validates what wild horse advocates have been saying for decades. It is time for a new direction. The BLM has the tools to begin implementing humane and proven methods to manage wild horses and burros on the range, and save millions of dollars doing so.
