For years, we have successfully shuttered the foreign owned horse slaughter industry by stripping federal funding to have the USDA inspect horsemeat at slaughter plants. (CEDAR CITY, Utah) – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has received a record number of public comments from over 35,000 individual citizens protesting a planned roundup of hundreds of wild horses from public lands in southwestern Utah, the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC) and its founding organization Return to Freedom announced today. The BLM is scheduling the roundup to appease a small but vocal group of ranchers in Iron and Beaver Counties who view mustangs as competition for taxpayer-subsidized grazing on public lands where wild horses live. According to the Congressional Research Service, the BLM charges ranchers grazing fees on public land that are approximately 1/12th of market rate.
(RENO, Nev.) – The American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC) author, Terri Farley, and wild horse photographer, Mark Terrell, filed a motion to dismiss in a lawsuit filed by the Nevada Association of Counties (NACO) and the Nevada Farm Bureau against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the U.S. District Court of Nevada. On April 3 the court granted AWHPC, Farley, and Terrell permission to intervene in the case. The motion to dismiss highlights the plaintiffs’ lack of standing and legal basis for the action.

Judge asked to order federal agency to comply with wild horse act
Thirteen ranchers in southwestern and central Utah are asking a federal judge to order the Bureau of Land Management to control the burgeoning number of wild horses that share the range with their cattle and sheep.
The Foundation to Protect New Mexico Wildlife today announced it has formalized an agreement with the Navajo Nation to develop a comprehensive and humane program to manage the thousands of free-roaming horses on the reservation.
