Volunteer Programs
Return to Freedom relies heavily on our dedicated volunteers to assist with keeping the sanctuary running smoothly! Each year, volunteers contribute nearly 3000 hours of work around the ranch, in a variety of volunteer opportunities. You can lend a hand for a couple of hours, join us for a volunteer work day, arrange a youth group volunteer day, or live on site for a few weeks. Whatever your availability, interest and talent, we are happy to have you as part of our volunteer team at a Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary location! Please read about our volunteer opportunities below and either fill out an online application or download a PDF an send it in:

In-Residence Volunteer Program
See what it takes to run a wild horse sanctuary! We invite In-Residence Volunteers to live on-site, and help out with the daily chores and tasks it takes to run a 300-acre ranch! Volunteers travel from around the world to work with Return to Freedom, from all walks of life, and our participants have brought a great deal of skill, hard work and camaraderie to the ranch. We encourage individuals with a passion for our cause to apply to this program. Commit 2-3 weeks (or longer by request) and participate in the everyday activities of running a wild horse sanctuary — plus a whole lot more.

Interested individuals are welcome to join our regular volunteer community, or help out occasionally. Either way, we have a variety of on-going opportunities for general volunteering at the ranch. Whether you live locally and are looking for a community service project, a family on vacation in the area, or just have some free time and want to give back, we encourage you to contact us to set up your first volunteer opportunity.
LEARN MOREJoin a group of volunteers on scheduled Volunteer Days! These days begin at 10am with a short orientation before tackling various projects around the ranch. We enjoy a short lunch together and a complimentary hike out to watch wild horse herds is given at the end of the day as a thank you for your much appreciated efforts.
